[…] I most sincerely wish to forget what has passed respecting my dearest Louisa & considering her Happiness at Stake, I am now quite reconciled to the Match. From all that I have heard & seen of the young Man, he is unexceptionable & more particularly as he appears to be very strongly attached to her. They are quite well acquainted with each other’s Disposition & I think there is every Prospect of their being happy together. Viewing it in that light, it is much preferable to a Choice made from interested Motives, & they will be sufficiently independent to have every Comfort in Life, which is really necessary. We had a most delightful tour with the Duke, the Weather was so propitious & he was so kindly considerate to us all. My only fear was, that we were a Burthen to him & interfered with his Plans; but in fact Women are not calculated to rough it as Men can at Sea, even under the most favourable Circumstances. I was rejoiced to hear the Duke had reached Stowe in good Health, as I apprehended that a long Confinement on board the Yacht, might have brought on a Fit of the Gout, & thereby delayed his return.
