William James Smith |
Succeeded Charles O'Conor as Librarian at Stowe in 1829. After the death of the first Duke in 1839, he became a general factotum to the second Duke. He designed the heraldic motifs for the lanthorn that formerly hung in the North Hall of Stowe house and was sold in the 1848 sale (Sale Catalogue, p42-3). |
