James Talbot

James Talbot, 3rd Baron Talbot of Malahide, 1774–1850. Talbot was a confidant of Nugent Buckingham and, while courting, the first Duke.

The Talbot family possessed the Castle and Lordship of Malahide estate near Dublin. The estate descended through male heirs until the 20th century, ending with the death of Milo Talbot, 7th Baron Talbot of Malahide in 1973.

In the winter of 1796–97, Talbot was a member of Lord Malmesbury’s unsuccessful peace mission to France. He described the situation in France in a letter to Nugent Buckingham

In 1797, he was appointed secretary to the legation to the Swiss Cantons, and in 1799 was given a similar appointment in Sweden.
