This was purchased by Henry Smith, Solicitor, of Maids Moreton. He purchased several items for the family and their supporters at the sale. |

Lots 457 & 458. Each formerly had miniatures on the lid; "they were very beautiful likenesses of the late Duke and Duchess of Buckingham, at the time of their marriage in 1796." The portraits were removed by the Marquis of Chandos prior to the sale. |

757. Richard Duke of Buckingham, by Trentanova, on dove marble pedestal. A. Robarts, Esq. Sholebroke Lodge, Towcester. 11 11 0. This bust was sculptured when the late Duke of Buckingham was in Rome in 1828. Mr. Robarts, we believe, purchased it for the present Duke.
The bust was presented to Stowe by the Mayor and Corporation of Buckingham in 1983. |
